I, Ana, the founder of Santo Cabo, moved to Cabo in 2005. It was a twist of fate - I was planning to return to South Florida from Chicago when I met a guy headed to Cabo San Lucas. A month later, I found myself in this charming tourist town, surrounded by locals, fellow transplants, and a constant stream of visitors.

What Cabo didn't have was natural skincare. For someone with dry, eczema prone, sensitive skin like mine, this was more than an inconvenience - it was misery. But sometimes, necessity truly is the mother of invention. Through a series of fortunate events (think Slumdog Millionaire movie, but with lotion), I realized I could create my own natural skincare products.

Soon, I was concocting olive oil and coconut oil soaps, whipping up lotions with aloe, mango butter, and olive oil, and crafting skin primers predominantly from fresh aloe gel. My philosophy was simple: use the highest quality fresh ingredients and local as much as possible.

Word spread quickly. Before I knew it, with a one-year-old in tow, I had people showing up at my front door, eager to buy whatever I had made. It was flattering, but also challenging. In robe, fresh from shower trying to assist people with their needs. It was messy. Though, with my now husband's support, we opened a cute retail store in San José del Cabo to redirect the growing demand away from our home.

In 2010, our journey took an exciting turn when we established a presence at Flora Farms, a now-iconic destination in San José del Cabo. Which shares our philosophy of using only the finest ingredients, prepared in the best way. As partners in Flora Farms' real estate side, my husband and I found a natural synergy between Santo Cabo and this unique venue.

Our store at Flora Farms, accidentally strategically located in the prime spot in the shops area, has become a cornerstone of our brand's growth. As visitors leave the restaurant, they're greeted by our shop, creating a seamless blend of farm-to-table dining and farm-to-skin beauty. This partnership has not only increased our visibility but has also reinforced our commitment to quality and natural living.

As tourists visited my little shop, they fell in love with our products and wanted to replenish their stock back home. This led to a crash course in exporting - I'd pack orders in Cabo as if they were leaving from San Diego, buy labels online, ship products to the border, and have a friend's brother cross them on his way to college in the USA and drop them off at Mailboxes Etc. We've grown a lot since and now have our own fulfillment location in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Santo Cabo's growth has been organic, fueled by word-of-mouth and loyal customers repurchasing their Cabo favorites. This slow-and-steady progression worked well as I focused on raising my children. Now that they're older, I can devote more attention to my third 'baby' - Santo Cabo.

We're in an exciting transition phase at Santo Cabo. For years, we've lovingly hand-stamped every ... single ... product, a process that's been as time-consuming as it has been personal. Now, we're evolving to use simple, functional labels that maintain our brand's essence while allowing us to meet growing demand more efficiently. This transition is brand new and we still have some of those cherished hand-stamped bottles in our inventory! To celebrate this milestone and make way for our new labeling, we're offering a special discount.
