Los Cabos is not a gentle environment.
The sun is constant. The air carries salt from the ocean. The desert wind dries everything it touches.
Skin responds quickly to that reality. Products that perform well in milder climates often fail here.
Santo Cabo grew out of that environment.
In the mid-2000s, co-founder Anastasia Grahn began experimenting with skincare formulations in the cool cellar of her home in Baja. The room was built into the hillside, half underground, naturally insulated from the desert heat. It became a quiet workspace for research and small batches of oils, balms, and mineral formulas.
The motivation was simple. Many of the products available locally relied on inexpensive ingredients and mass-production methods that prioritized margins over quality. Anastasia began studying oils, botanicals, minerals, and traditional preparations with a straightforward goal: to create formulations that could withstand the conditions of Baja while remaining simple, trustworthy, and effective.
The earliest formulas were never meant for sale. They were made for daily life.
They were used by Anastasia and her husband, Derrick, then by their children, and eventually by friends who began asking for jars and bottles of the products that had quietly become part of the household. Word spread the way it often does in small coastal towns. A neighbor mentioned it to a friend. Someone visiting Baja took a bottle home.
By 2006, the growing collection of formulas had a name inspired by the place that shaped them: Santo Cabo. Santo, meaning sacred in Spanish. Cabo, for Los Cabos.
Production remained small and deliberate. A workshop eventually became a proper production space. That space later expanded into a laboratory and kitchen where every formula is still produced in small batches by a long-standing team.
Over time, people visiting Los Cabos began discovering Santo Cabo in person, particularly at the entrance to Flora Farms in San José del Cabo. Many customers first encounter the products there while traveling through Baja, then continue ordering them from home after returning.
The philosophy behind the company has remained consistent.
Every formula begins with a problem that needs solving. Skin stressed by sun. Skin dried by wind and salt air. Skin irritated by conventional formulations.
Ingredients are chosen for usefulness rather than trend. Nothing is added simply because it is fashionable. Each ingredient must justify its presence.
The goal has never been novelty.
It has always been function.
Santo Cabo products are made for people who live in the elements. People who spend long days outdoors, travel often, swim in the ocean, or simply prefer skincare that works quietly and reliably.
The company continues to operate the way it began. Formulate carefully. Produce in small batches. Grow slowly.
